The United States Federal Trade Commission provides an excellent, step-by-step resource for victims of identity theft called “What To Do If Your Identity Is Stolen.”  The FTC website provides consumers with steps to take, phone numbers for credit reporting agencies, organizational tips, etc.  This is a good first step for all identity theft victims.
